NEW HAVEN - Twenty two police officers climbed a rung on promotional ladder Friday, the latest wave of promotions in a department that went years with virtually none.


Here is the list:

LIEUTENANTS

Sergeant Kenneth Blanchard was hired on 2/27/95 and currently is assigned to Investigative Services in the Firearms Unit. He is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy and Southern Connecticut Sate University (BS).

In February 1999, he was promoted to the rank of Detective and worked in Investigative Services. In December 2000, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, where he served in the Patrol division before his transfer in February 2008 to Firearms. While in Patrol, Sergeant Blanchard supervised officers both on the street and in the ID-NET unit and also served temporarily as Acting District Manager in Newhallville.

Sergeant Jean-Marc Calafiore was hired on 4/25/88 and currently is assigned as second shift supervisor in Investigative Services. He is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy and Eastern Connecticut State University (BA). In February 1999, he was promoted to the rank of Detective and worked in Investigative Services. In October 2002, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served in the Patrol division before his transfer in September 2004 to the Bureau.

Sergeant Julie Johnson was hired on 6/3/96 and currently is assigned to Training & Education. She is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy, the University of Alabama (BA), and the University of New Haven (MS-Criminal Justice). In December 2000, she was promoted to the rank of Detective and was assigned to Investigative Services-Narcotics Unit. In October 2002, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and has worked in Community Patrol Operations, Internal Affairs/Background Investigations, and the Training Academy.

SERGEANTS

Detective Scott Aponte was hired 11/22/91 and currently is assigned to the Bureau of Identification. He is a graduate of the Municipal Police Training Council Academy. He was promoted to the rank of Detective in April 2004.

Officer Eduardo Diaz was hired 6/15/92 and currently is assigned to Community Patrol Operations in the Hill North district (A squad). He is a graduate of the Municipal Police Training Council Academy. In addition to his work in Patrol, Officer Diaz has conducted background investigations while assigned to Investigative Services and Internal Affairs.

Detective Herbert Johnson III was hired 2/16/98 and currently is assigned to General Investigations in Investigative Services. He is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy and Central Connecticut State University (BA). He was promoted to the rank of detective in May, 2003, and has also served in the Bureau in the Gang Task Force.

Detective Makiem Miller was hired 6/3/96 and currently is assigned to Family Services. He is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy and Sacred Heart University (BS). He was promoted to the rank of Detective in February 1999. He has worked in both Investigative Services (Arson, Narcotics, General Investigations) and Family Services (Sexual Assaults, Sex/Bias Crimes).

Officer Jason Minardi was hired 12/7/98 and currently is assigned to Community Patrol Operations in the Newhallville district (B squad). He is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy and Springfield Technical Community College (AS). He has had several assignments in Investigative Services in Street Interdiction and also served in the ID-NET unit.

Officer Anthony Santarcangelo was initially hired as a part time officer on 6/28/76 and became full time on 4/29/85. He is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy and the University of Connecticut (BA). He has served his entire career in Community Patrol Operations, the past several years as operator of the prisoner conveyance van on A squad.

Officer John Savinelli Jr. was hired 7/10/92 and currently is assigned to Community Patrol Operations in the Dwight/Chapel district (C squad). He is a graduate of the Municipal Police Training Council Academy and Southern Connecticut State University (BA). He has served his entire career in Community Patrol Operations.

Officer Darcia Siclari was hired 2/16/98 and currently is assigned to Community Patrol Operations in the Mounted Unit. She is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy and South Central Community College (AS). In addition to her work in Patrol, she has served in Investigative Services/Street Interdiction, Family Services, and Internal Affairs/Background Investigations.

Detective David Sydnor was hired 1/24/92 and is currently assigned to Family Services. He is a graduate of the Municipal Police Training Council. He was promoted to the rank of Detective in December 2000 and has served in Investigative Services (Statewide Task Force), Family Services (Sexual Assaults, Sex Offender Registry), and Internal Affairs (Background Investigations).

Detective Rose Turney was hired 10/9/95 and is currently assigned to Investigative Services/General Investigations. She is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy. As a Police Officer, she served in Community Patrol Operations (including ID-NET), Investigative Services/Street Interdiction, and Family Services. She was recently promoted to the rank of Detective in February 2008.

Detective Alfonso Vazquez was hired 1/24/92 and is currently assigned to Investigative Services/General Investigations. He is a graduate of the Municipal Police Training Council Academy. He was promoted to the rank of Detective in February 1999 and has also served in Investigative Services in Intelligence and Robbery/Burglary.

Officer John Wolcheski Jr. was hired 12/7/98 and is currently assigned as a School Resource Officer at Wilbur Cross High School. He is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy and Albertus Magnus College (AS, BS). He has been assigned to Community Patrol Operations and Family Services/Police Athletic League.

DETECTIVES

Officer Craig Alston was hired 6/3/96 and is currently assigned to Community Patrol Operations in the Hill South district (E squad). He is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy. In addition to his work in Patrol, he has served in Investigative Services/Street Interdiction and the Street Outreach Program.

Officer Tammi Means was hired 2/16/98 and is currently assigned to Family Services/Juvenile Review Board. She is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy and Albertus Magnus College (BA). She has been assigned to Patrol and Family Services and has served as a School Resource Officer.

Officer Francis Melendez was hired 1/30/95 and is currently assigned as a School Resource Officer at Wilbur Cross High School. He is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy. In addition to his work in Patrol, he has been assigned to Investigative Services (Gang Task Force, Intelligence) and Family Services (Police Athletic League).

Officer James Naccarato was hired 7/31/89 and is currently assigned as a School Resource Officer at Career High School. He is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy. In addition to his work in Patrol, he has been assigned to Investigative Services (Auto Theft Task Force) and Family Services (Police Athletic League).

Officer Nicole Natale was hired 1/25/00 and is currently assigned to Family Services. She is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy and the University of New Haven (BS, MS-Criminal Justice). She has also worked in Community Patrol Operations and Investigative Services/Street Interdiction.

Officer Matthew Prinz was hired 1/30/95 and is currently assigned to Community Patrol Operations in the Newhallville District (A squad). He is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy. He has served his entire career in the Patrol division.

Officer Rahgue Tennant was hired 1/25/00 and is currently assigned to Community Patrol Operations in the Beaver Hill district (B squad). He is a graduate of the New Haven Police Academy and Villanova University (BA). He has served his entire career in the Patrol division, including the ID-NET unit.
