ANDERSON, S.C. -- Fire investigators were called to a home on Monday that officials said was rigged to explode.

Firefighters said a real estate agent checking on the home on Dunlap Road went inside and smelled gas. He immediately called the fire department who responded.

Investigators said when they arrived they found an open propane line in the home and a rag laying on top of a working stove.

Firefighters evacuated the home and worked to correct the problem. Thankfully, there was no fire and no one was hurt in the incident.

Fire Chief Billy Gibson said that combination could have led to quite an explosion or what firefighters call a flash fire. He said he’s angry that someone did something like this and put the lives of firefighters and residents in danger.

“Somebody was after some type of gain or motive and did not take human life into consideration,” Gibson said.

Firefighters asked anyone with information on the case to call the Anderson County Fire Protection Headquarters at 864-260-4016.
