NORWALK - A Stamford firefighter who poured spaghetti over his pregnant girlfriend and beat a Norwalk motorist during a separate road-rage incident was given a two-year suspended sentence and 30 months probation yesterday for both cases.
Christopher Ormond, 39, of 84 Strawberry Hill Ave., Norwalk, was charged March 19 with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and reckless driving after he grabbed the neck of a 33-year-old man and pulled him out of his car.
Ormond then punched the man's head, according to a police report.
Ormond also was arrested Oct. 21, 2006, in a domestic violence incident involving his girlfriend in which he was charged with assault of a pregnant woman.
Ormond pleaded guilty yesterday in state Superior Court in Norwalk to two counts of third-degree assault and reckless driving, according to court records. The breach of peace charge was nolled.
A nolle is a decision by state's attorneys not to prosecute. The case can be reopened for any reason within 13 months. If not reopened within that time, the nolled charge is removed from the public record.
Judge Burton Kaplan fined Ormond $1,000 and required him to make a $1,000 contribution to the state office of victim services, court records show.
Ormond also was sentenced to serve 50 hours of community service, continue anger management classes and participate in a Westport-based driver re-education program.
After Ormond's court appearance yesterday, Stamford Fire & Rescue Chief Robert McGrath said his suspension has been lifted and Ormond has returned to active duty.
"He has complied with the stipulations we have put on him. We will take it from there," McGrath said.
Ormond's attorney, Bruce Koffsky, could not be reached for comment.
