Darien Fire Department member arrested

Feb 14, 2007

A junior probationary member of the Darien Fire Department was arrested this week.

The department was notified of the incident by the Darien Police Department.

The fire department cooperated very closely with the police throughout the investigation, according to a fire department press release.

This comes after the fire department had been previously alerted about an incident that took place between two probationary members. The department said that it took the proper action and notified authorities. The alleged youthful offenders were immediately suspended and barred from the premises pending the investigation.

“The Darien Fire Department has very strict house rules and we are very saddened by this complaint,” according to the press release. “We work very hard to maintain a safe environment for all members.”

The application process for prospective members of the department is very thorough, including a criminal background check and interview process. The department also strictly forbids any kind of discrimination or harassment.
