NORWALK -- A suspended firefighter's legal troubles continued to mount with his arrest for allegedly brandishing a shotgun in a family feud that reportedly began as a traffic dispute.

Andre Williams, 42, of 40 Lincoln Ave., Norwalk, a city firefighter since 1986, was suspended without pay in August over an undisclosed matter involving allegations of serious workplace misconduct.

Williams was charged on two separate occasions last year with larceny and writing bad checks. He is seeking accelerated rehabilitation in both cases, and a hearing on his application for the special form of probation is scheduled for Friday.

The most recent incident occurred Thursday, when a caller told police at about 6:15 p.m. that a man was brandishing a shotgun in the middle of Lincoln Avenue, Lt. Peter Randall said.

Police responded and found a group of people in the South Norwalk street, Randall said. He said people at the scene pointed out Williams as the man who had the shotgun. Police approached Williams and found a 12-gauge shotgun and 9 mm semiautomatic handgun on the ground near him, the lieutenant said.

The incident reportedly began while Linda Roldan, 23, of 28 Lincoln Ave., was parked in front of her home to pick up her child. Williams -- driving a vehicle behind Roldan's -- found his passage blocked on the narrow, one-way street and honked his horn, police said.

"This honking of the horn apparently caused some words to be exchanged, and other members of Ms. Roldan's family apparently were called and arrived at the scene in another vehicle," Randall said.

Williams and his brother -- Terry Williams, 41 -- went into their home and obtained firearms, allegedly because their adversaries had knives, police said. However, police didn't find any knives when they arrived.

At one point, Andre Williams' mother -- Louise Williams, 65, also of 40 Lincoln Ave. -- allegedly came outside, took the shotgun from him and brandished it at the other family, police said.

All three members of the Williams family were charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree breach of peace. Each was released on $2,000 bond.

Police issued summonses for second-degree breach of peace to Roldan; her husband, Miguel Roldan Jr., 30, also of 28 Lincoln Ave.; and Miguel Roldan Sr., 52, of the same address.

All parties are due in court May 2.
