| Unlike some towns where much of the shore is claimed by homeowners, great swaths of West Haven’s beaches are open to the public from New Haven Harbor to Milford. Now 40 signs featuring a sea gull have been posted to help visitors find their way to the beaches and parking lots. The West Haven beaches are a great place to walk. People and birds flock there. The fishing pier is often crowded with anglers. West Haven’s sea gull offers a welcome that more people will accept.
